Food sampling campaigns can introduce (or reintroduce) brands to consumers in a cost and time effective way. Here are a few of our favourites so far this year!
Recent food sampling campaigns
Sampling promotions can lead to increased brand awareness and can drive sales. Research by Eventeem shows that 35% of consumers who try a sample will buy the sampled product on the same shopping trip and it is a method used by a wide range of brands.
SpaceandPeople have been involved in matching a range of food and snack brands with their target audiences so far this year. Summer is a particularly popular time for such campaigns to either raise brand awareness of an existing product or launch a new product range to consumers. Many of these promotions chose a roadshow option to maximise the scope of their activation. Train stations are particularly popular for food sampling, as the high footfall helps brands reach a wide range of demographic groups in a short period of time. We have featured a few of our favourite activations from this year below.
Wrigley's
The Crowd Agency worked with Wrigley’s to promote Wrigley’s Extra chewing gum. This promotion focused on Manchester, visiting Manchester Piccadilly station, Manchester Arndale and Spinningfields. In addition to the free samples handed out to passers-by, members of the public had a chance to win branded merchandise with a Batak Wall activity!
Violife
We worked with Media-Boxx to find the best location for Violife’s sampling campaign. London Waterloo station was a great option for the plant-based cheese brand’s activation. Brand ambassadors gave out samples of the product as well as a discount voucher for a Burger King burger utilising the cheese alternative!
Bonne Maman
WixHill worked with Bonne Maman to bring the brand to a range of stations! The sampling campaign allowed passers-by to grab a free product of some of the brand’s tasty products. The promotion visited London King’s Cross, Waterloo and Manchester Piccadilly stations.
Doughlicious
It was great to work with LetThemKnow Promotions on this Doughlicious sampling roadshow! The brand raised awareness of its Dough-chi product by handing out samples to passers-by at a range of locations, including London King’s Cross, Marylebone, Waterloo and Victoria stations, Battersea Power station, St Martin-in-the-Fields, and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. There were over 10,000 samples handed out in each location!
Cadbury
Hyperactive worked with Cabdury to promote the Time Out chocolate bars at London Euston station. The activation treated members of the public to a Time Out and a cup of tea, giving out 15,000 samples!

Sampling activations are an easy way to introduce your product to consumers
Sampling campaigns give consumers a chance to experience the product first-hand, without any commitment. It’s an effective technique to encourage passers-by to try out a new product. To maximise the effectiveness of the sampling campaign, it’s important to choose a location that will allow your brand to reach its target audience – our team of experts can advise.
